PARTS OF CALIFORNIA ARE TURNING INTO A 3RD WORLD COUNTRY??

Here is a snapshot of actual Americans giving their opinion and talking about illegal immigration.  Now most Americans in the comments are referring to Mexicans who have literally overrode the southwest to point that some Americans say they are not the majority anymore.  One commenter wrote that "parts of California look like a 3rd world country, Mexicans have ruined the state."  I have read these opinions by the hundreds at this point I've heard it all.  I don't deal with the same changes as what California has gone through I'm in Massachusetts and far away from the border.  The debate is getting heated again as Obama discusses what to do about immigration reform.   He made promises in his original campaign for presidency and lets face it Latinos helped get him into office. Though I'm married to an undocumented immigrant from Brazil I can still see SOME (and I stress some) of their side to the story.  But I don't condone ignorance or ignorant comments and that goes for both sides.  I think it depends on the type of person that comes over border.  If they bring crime and ignorant attitudes with them then I am not for them being here or for getting papers.

As you read you will see that Americans have become pretty self-righteous in their ivory tower.  I have a different view of life here in America and that is predominately due to my marriage.  Its a very hard life to lead sometimes.  Because I have to deal with the way Americans perceive immigrants form the south whether they are hear illegally or legally.   Americans might not tell you to your face but in the dark corners of their mind they don't want to be infiltrated by anyone form the South.  If an illegal immigrant form France somehow slipped into the US they would welcome him/her with open arms.  The french are acceptable of course.   We are inundated with how fucking perfect France is how special so cultured.   But yet they can't muster the energy to take a shower.   But the way the media portrays France and other European countries its like the sun rises and shines on these countries.  I have come out of the fog of brainwashing and I now wonder what do they do that is so great other than steal and exploit the south for their own benefit?  If its made in France its great, if its made in Venezuela  its trash.  France is the pinnacle of what people use as an example of quality of life.   They can do no wrong.  BUT the image of the South is so different   I don't have to explain it everyone knows what I'm talking about.   Its called discrimination.  And its the way the media portrays the South that gives Americans their disdain for Mexico and South America.

It has really opened my eyes as to who some of my fellow Americans really are.  Most who have turned out to be total hypocrites a quality I find really loathsome.  I don't like it when people refer to Brazil as a 3rd world country just to be derogatory and put Brazil on a lower plateau.  They like to cast the country as 3rd world so they can dismiss it.  Even if parts are like 3rd world conditions, last time I checked ALL the citizens  in the U.S. that now call themselves Americans are descended usually form poor farm workers that arrived at the golden shores on disease infested boats.   So when I hear some of the comments I want to get into an argument.  For that reason I have done a lot of research and study into US foreign policy and history to make sure I know what I'm dealing with.  The US which is not all innocent in this subject perpetuates the myth that Brazil is a 3rd world dump by virtually ignoring the country and letting old generalizations stay where they are.  I have a hard time finding anything about Brazil in the American media unless its negative even that is few and far between.   And I know its done on purpose because China is 3rd world and they can't seem to shut the F up about that country in the media I guess the US has to kiss China's ass due to the fact China now owns this country.   Their is a lot of ignorance on the part of Americans who have no idea what is really going on and only believe what they are spoon fed most of which is provocative inflammatory information about these countries.  In general America is a individualist society where all inhabitants are pretty  much living in their own bubble and could care less about the plight of other countries or how they got that way.

  • Thank you Obama for trying to get more illegals into this country only so they can support you. Why waste money on these worthless bills that will do nothing but will make our economy even worse? Focus on WE THE PEOPLE, not WE THE ILLEGALS...... We have a high enough unemployment rate as it is, why not let more people in who will work for less than the minimum wage... Smart move.. Then again you aren't exactly known for being a very smart president. Let's give Millions to Egypt in F-16's, Millions to Mali, Millions to other countries when OUR country needs the money more..... I LOVE this country but this is getting out of hand.....

Tanya, you are not an undocumented immigrant. You are an illegal alien and have no legal right to be in this country. We don't owe you anything.

How about my hope and expectations when I dreamed of this land of opportunity,
learned so hard about its history and legacy, studied the language so hard and
worked so hard to get a PhD with a legal F1 visa in an American university? And
my wife who came here with a legal F2 visa that does not even allow her to work? Tania with all due respect, I think you should stand in a line behind me and my family. Or else maybe I should throw away my legal F1 visa and become an illegal like you and talk about expectations?

Excuse me. You are not an immigrant. You did not apply for entry. You did not obey any laws. You displaced a true immigrant and most probably a refugee. Identify yourself for what you are; an illegal criminal who crossed our borders, and refuse to do the right thing and go home.

get rid of welfare and social services all together and 10 million of your illegals will go back home. Go to your local welfare office and ask yourself how 90% of those in line are spanish speaking mothers. Anchor babies are the qualifying them and word spreads quick in Mexico when it comes to getting free dinero.

the liberals promised the illegals citizenship in return of their votes. Now the conservatives are forced to follow suit

News flash. 47% of illegal immigrants are on gov’t subsidies right now.

20 Million unemployed and desperate for work, and they want to legalize 20 million more, and make it easier for foreigners to come in and take more American jobs.

Well we should at least keep illegal immigrants out of our workforce. We need to demand mandatory E-Verify to check all jobs, current and future. If the government can bring the number working illegally from over 8 million today down to less than 500,000 then after that I might be open to a very small, numerically capped legalization program. But without implementing E-Verify first in actuality, promises mean nothing.

Obama's plan = Take from the hard working, tax paying, US citizens and give to the illegal leeches.

Agreed. Unfortunately it's too late. We should have acted 20 years ago on this. Chalk it up: third world countries like Brazil, Mexico, and coming soon, the good ole US of A. It's over folks. We are outnumbered. Get ready for a banana republic. Anglo Saxons built the greatest civilizations ever known: Europe, America, Australia, Canada...but we are divided from within. Whites are now the only ethnic group in the country that doesn't vote as a block. Blacks, Mexicans and most minority groups all vote at least 75% democrat. Whites can't agree on anything, so we are getting steamrolled at the polls. It's their country now. Let's see how long it takes for them to ruin it.

NO AMNESTY AT ALL! They committed a Federal Crime. Now you fools in DC want to give them a break. If a citizen breaks Federal law we get prosecuted. Your intentions to give these criminals a break is wrong. You are setting the wrong example for all our children. They are criminals! Prosecute and deport! No other way to do it right. We need for all Americans to wake up and tell all our elected officials to do what is right. Prosecute and deport.

These aren't legal immigrants. Other countries are much harder on them when they get caught. If you are going to grant everyone who enters illegally a path to citizenship somewhere down the road then why bother to have border checks at all. Just let everyone in. These illegals get many benefits that they have never paid in to. Do you think that's fair to the millions of citizens who have contributed for decades?

For every illegal immigrant teen in California going to school trying to better themselves, there are five either in a gang or committing illegal acts. I know CNN likes to point out kids just trying to become a lawyer or doctor but they never show the other side. And I know this is considered a stereotype but young Mexican females reproduce at an extremely high rate which is just apart of the culture but is also causing a massive influx in anchor babies. This is why locking down our borders is the most important thing of all. I love the Spanish culture and value their presence in America but we have to make sure the people who come here are respecting our laws and the process it takes to become a US citizen so they feel like they have earned it and not stolen it. You respect the things you earn.

im from california too and literaly watched it decay to what it is now. Mexicans have spray painted, vandalized, drugged and ruined everything to a third world degree a long time ago. I honestly dont see how qnyone expected any different, when you let millions of third world people that dont know qny better in all at once what did they expect. Anyway i moved, kentucky rocks, very polite, very clean.

      • Their just sharing their culture with us. The melting pot theory doesnt really apply to this country any more, just a bunch of foreigners who want to live on our soil, not become US americans.

Don't forget, they love our goodies we give out. Heck, even daughters of drug lords who have tons of cash still come up here to have their children on the taxpayer dime.... Can't beat that.

Moving to LA was an eye opener. I felt like the foreigner there and not because of race, it's because of all the people there speaking spanish who only speak spanish. They shy away from people because they know they can't communicate. The illegals walk around with their heads down trying not to draw attention. Mexicans have literally flooded LA and this is a result of illegal immigration and a extremely high rate of reproduction. I think this is the problem Americans have. When you come here, you become an America and adopt our culture and our language. You don't bring Mexico to the United States. We know what Mexico is like and we don't want that here. Period.

I might add that I also lived in Tucson Arizona aswell which has an extremely high population of illegal immigrants. I was in a few relationships with Mexican women there so I got to learn first hand about their cousins who were slipping back and fourth from Mexico...some working in cartels there. It's a common practice there. There is an entire half of Tucson that if you didn't know any better..you would think you were in Mexico.

Most don't even realize how much our great state spends on illegal immigration per year. California spends approximately ten billion per year on illegal immigration. Not ten million, but "10 BILLION!" San Diego county where I live, spends roughly one billion per year on illegal immigration. If we were able just to cut that in half, we could balance our budget. I am sorry but I find more negative than anything positive about illegal immigration. They are not a plus for our society, because they take way far more than they give back. People also need to look at the whole picture, not just one piece of it, like them being cheap labor... Maybe the rich score off the cheap labor, but the rest of us pay dearly for it, I mean think about this, where does that ten billion come from? The taxpayers! So much for that cheap head of lettuce! I always love to hear people say how we need them, but then complain about taxes, it's like going through my head, "you really are a m0r0n that can't add two and two together..." By the way, do people know that produce is one of the top ten rip offs to consumers, and that is a fact, so where is all this money we are saving on illegal immigration? Please anyone show me just one benefit of having them here...

Before you start talking about anchor babies read up on how effective they are. You have to have a US citizen child then they can apply for you at the age of 21. However, if you entered illegally you still have to go to your home country and get the waiver for unlawful presence. If you do not get the waiver you are out for 10 years. On top of this the waiver is not available for the parent of a US citizen meaning the parent is stuck outside for 10 years. Lastly, if they want to apply for Cancellation of removal they have to wait till they have been in the United States for 10 years and qualify for a number of other factors.

Well, I want to deport the illegal immigrants. It is not a waste of time or money. They are taxing our schools, infrastructure, and you CANNOT reward criminals. Yes, they are criminals for coming here illegall. And, we need to change the laws - no more anchor babies. If you are born here, but your parents are here illegally, no free passes and no free citizenship.

You can work legally in your own country. There are probably a billion people around the world who want to live in the US and get social security. The US immigration system has been designed to take limited numbers of immigrants each year. Not all who want to come here will be able to. With so many aspiring immigrants waiting patiently in their own countries because they respect our laws, it is wrong to reward people who flout our laws with the ability stay here and work. 26 years ago our congress promised US citizens that the only and only legalization program of 1986 would be the only one. We are going to hold our legislators to that promise.

I guess the word ILLEGAL means nothing to any local, state or the federal government. Our loser of a governor here is MA wants to make it easier for ILLEGAL immigrants to go to college! Are you kidding me?
Whatever is decided, I want all immigrants documented so they can pay taxes instead of taking services from TAXPAYER revenue.
My daughter was was walking to work one beautiful morning. She was hit by an illegal that lost control of his car. The illegal was driving illegally. He lst his license for leaving the scene of an accident previously. This time he stayed. Though he never got out of the car to help. His punishment? Driving to fast for conditions and driving with revoked license. He had no money. Just an uneducated illegal trying to make a living in the USA and better himself. My daughter gets stuck with the bad back. The medical bills. If I was driving an accidentally hit the illegal he would have an ambulance chaser trying to take my house. This is what we want?

            • Ironically, if your daughter had been driving without insurance or a license, she would have gone straight to jail.

            • i represented a school teacher who was rear-ended and injured by a van full of illegals late for work. they were employed by a staffing agency, registered with my state, but that received no punishment no fine, no suspended license, nothing. It continues operating and making money to this day by supplying labor at cut rate to a local manufacturer.

Where did all the BLOGS go?

I was thinking the other day why do people stop blogging? They start out enthusiastic about this new medium they want to explore, share experiences with others, see if they get a following.  But then as the daily drudgery of life sinks in they start to get disillusioned.  Which is fine everyone has the right to get sick of it, get turned off, get busy, or whatever.  But sometimes people don't realize how much of a help their blog is or how many people actually start to count on it.   Especially if their blog is unique.   I think that people usually start blogging when something is causing some emotional turmoil in their life.  Its cathartic, its little pace to vent to express and explore feelings.  Basically when things aren't going so great, or when their is apprehension about something.  Once that feeling is gone they stop blogging.  Problem is their are others that go through withdrawals when these blogs stop or disappear with no explanation.    It might be better to write a final blog that you leave up for a few months then shut down.  Or why shut down at all?  What's the point just leave it up for a while their is still a plethora of amazing information that you provided for people to read?

I have noticed that people who are planning or have made an international move like to blog.  Or it seems that way.  That is how I got into blogging.  When I realized I was moving I needed a place to explore my apprehension and negative feelings.

They say the average life span of a blog is 2 years so there is thousands of orphaned blogs out there.

Here is a list of orphaned, dumped blogs about Brazil that I have read.

Amerialia---she just stopped blogging one day

Brasilicana---just gone, not sure what happened

Adventures of a Gringa in Brazil---left Brazil, but why can't you blog about your life in Canada :(

The Salty Cod---She blogs like once a year, so not so much any-more

Coconut Water---She just stopped one day, not sure why and that was one I was attached too

Nina Disporia of the Sky---She has recently dropped off but still does for now, I read hers all the time

Meredith in Brasilia---She stopped but said she would, I read hers all the time

Becoming Brazilian---I really miss this one!

Travelling Susie caught in Brazil---not sure about this one just orphaned

          O Jeito Brasilierio---well she moved!

Life in Barra Brazil---I really liked this one as well.

Living Road less travelled---last post almost a year ago, but might still be bloggin (keeping fingers crossed)

And one blog I am looking for a husband and wife who had bought a farm in Minas Gerais they haven't blogged in years.  They (she just stopped one day).  I always wonder what happened to these people, what happened in their lives to make them stop.

And as far as my blog is concerned well I have not put in nearly as much time as most of the others.  I have 31 drafts and 17 published what does that tell you?  And yet I find myself some days going "why bother", or feeling disillusioned as well.   I think sometimes this is all bullshit why am I doing it?  Unless you get a huge readership and maybe start making some money.  That is why I have to do it for myself any other way is just inauthentic.

          The Girl and the Syringe

I had an interesting morning.  I went to the neighborhood health clinic.  There was a young girl who had dyed blonde hair tied in a tight ponytail.  She had electric blue eyes and what looked like boils on her face.  I knew immediately she was a meth head and a heroin addict and she was chomping at the bit for a hit.   When the lady called her to the window the girl said trying to muffle her voice "I was told to come here for a syringe".  The lady promptly told her she didn't know what she was talking about, and then the girl said "Oh well out front told me to come here, but let me go double check.”  I think the lady was just giving her a hard time which I didn't like.  Then the girl came back and whispered "No it's here they said.”  Then a young black women said "You need an id.”  And apparently she didn't have one, so she started going around the waiting room asking different people if they had an id.  Two people said no then she got to me.  Now I pride myself on not being an ass-hole.  I don't like people who judge others,  and I always stand-up for the underdog.

"What’s the syringe for?" I asked "It’s for diabetes" she replied.  I would rather her use clean needles instead of spreading HIV and other blood diseases around.  But then I got an image of her slumped in some dirty half way house eyes wide, mouth open, with a syringe hanging out of her arm and I'm the syringe bearer?  So I said "No sorry I don't want to be involved with giving out a syringe.”  Then she said "They don't take down your license information."  But I was already spooked her ghost was standing right in front of me, yet somehow I still felt like an ass-hole.  Why does doing what you think is the right thing sometimes feel so wrong?   Anyway she found someone else another addict who had an id to get the needle for her.  After she walked off I looked at some guy who was standing against the wall and shook my head thinking what the fuck the poor girl needs help and he said “She didn't look like any diabetic I've ever seen, she looked like a little crack whore.” See there they go again people judging others.  I have been known in the past to be pretty blunt when it’s something I believe in but now I pick and choose my battles.  I have done my fair share of drugs and I have quite an array of juicy stories but luckily for me I never fell into the abyss.

I hope that girl finds her way, and stops ruining her life and her face.  It’s really sad, drug addicts are so desperate they cling to life like they are hanging on the side of a cliff by their fingertips wanting, longing, for their next hit, selling their souls, giving over their temple to the dark demons that reek havoc in their head.  You try to reach them but it’s like they are being pulled under by some unseen force.  In a big dark whirlpool they keep circling and every time you get a hand on them they slip through your fingers again and all you can do is watch them slowly drown.  The sad part is they are usually talented intelligent people even more so than the posers who only think they have their shit together.  The start off self-medicating to  forget the pain, and it feels good to get high, but then it slowly strangles you with its long wretched fingers.  As time goes on they are so numb they don't even remember what its like to be human.  Life is always just a puff or hit away from being someone else’s memory and those that loved them are part of a distant life they no longer recognize.

          Mango and Palm Trees.....Who cares?

Its seems sometimes well more often than not whenever anyone talks about Brazil or moving to Brazil they always mention the cost of produce, and the weather.  I see a lot of photographs of scenery, and people tell you how great freshly squeezed juice is.   Then I sit back and scratch my head.  THAT'S IT?  That's all it takes to get you move thousands of miles with your family in tow- pineapple JUICE?  Don't get me wrong I like the idea of nice weather and fresh fruit but for me that's a good vacation in the Mexico, that's not going to cause me to pack up and move.  There are way more pressing issues at hand when deciding if you should call a place home.

Right now Norway has one of the highest standards of living in the world if not number one, and they get freezing dark winters, however that would not stop me from moving there if I could because they have a great quality of life and arguably the best social services in the world.   And those are the issues I'm more interested in (the tough issues), issues that effect my families daily life like public safety, roads, health care, social services, education, and government.  I don't know about you but last time I checked good mango juice is not a hallmark for great quality of life.  They might have great fruit in Haiti but I would never move there.  So the posts are colorful and juicy but if the real issues that affect people's lives in a dramatic way are not discussed with honesty than its all kind of pointless fluff.

We have come a long way baby.............not long enough

"The fact is that women have been trapped. Reproduction is used, consciously or not, as a means to control women, to limit their options and to make them subordinate to men. In many societies a serious approach to reproductive health has to have this perspective in mind. We must seek to liberate women."

                                                                                                                                                           Dr. Nafia Sadik
                                                                                                                         Executive Director, UN Poplation Fund

It was not too long ago when a woman could not open a bank account or by land without her husbands’ permission.  And it wasn't too long ago when innocent women were being burned for being different for being independent for doing anything that did not conform to societal norms  For being different they were branded witches and pushed to the fringes of society mostly by other women who dictated to their husbands that these women deserved to be punished.  This was how the Salem witch trials started.  Right now there is a modern day witch hunt going on the United States.   Since the start of the 2012 bid for Presidency has started women have been attacked.  Issues that should be private and sacred are being used by public figures to create a divide a war and to get votes.  Why is it always women who are scapegoated?   The base of power in this country needs to be shifted.  They never put a male issue in the forefront.  Never throw down the fact that men get women pregnant then leave and don't support them or the baby.  Never talk about the fact that men control their own reproductivity by getting vasectomies or using Viagra.   The issue turns women against women because that's how we have been shaped by our culture.   Some of the most degrading comments I've heard attacking women and their choices are from women.  And the media fuels it on.  Its disgusting.  To those women I say shame on you, your subservient traitors to your own gender.  We need to stick together look at the issues and try to protect each other and other women.  Women who are less fortunate.    As women we should understand each other’s needs and help one another.   Just like men do.

One of my hot button issues is reproductive rights.  I want to see reproductive rights for all women across the globe.   I have researched countless issues on the topic, from women taking unregulated dangerous medications to terminate a pregnancy only to have deformed infants. To women who get life threatening fistulas  Who suffers from a country who turns their back on reproductive rights?  Women and babies.  Some of the most heartbreaking stories I have heard are women who don't have any choice whether they get pregnant or not, and don't have access to adequate health care of no health care.   But right here in one of the most technological advanced and progressive countries the United States our reproductive rights are being threatened. The fact is abortion and access to reproductive care is not only about the baby but about the living breathing women who have to carry them and support them when they arrive.   Real women all over the globe are suffering right now.  We have to protect them first.

Here is a list of complications that can arise from a woman carrying a baby.

No one should force a woman to have a baby.  And frankly I don’t have to believe what you believe; maybe I'm an atheist so why should I live my life according to what your religion proselytizes?  When I hear pro-life proponents talk about killing babies it’s not that I don’t understand their position, I do.  I can sympathize and hear their arguments.  However the need to protect women that are already here for me is more important.  Pregnancy can be debilitating for some women.  It can ruin their ability to earn a living, it can ruin their health, and it can ruin their social standing.

Society judge’s women when they are not married, they judge women when they get pregnant out of wedlock.  Somehow a woman is worth less when she doesn't have a husband.   People that feel this way are the same people who preach about protecting the babies, but they show no compassion for the individual women who have to carry and take care of the baby, the mother.  Why does your compassion stop at the baby?  You hear things like "no one told her to lay on her back", or "I don't want my tax dollars going to pay for women having babies."  But you want them to have the baby?   That is why a lot of us say you are “anti-woman” when you are pro-life because the issue runs way deeper than simply "pro-life" or "pro-choice".  Society needs to stop looking at women as second class citizens and start treating them as an integral important part of society by giving them all the support they need.  It takes a village to raise a baby after all.

That is exactly what Mitt Romney is trying to do; he talks about, getting rid of welfare, reversing Obama’s health care law, getting rid of social programs, getting rid of access to contraception through insurance.  But then at the same time he says he is against abortion?    How can these two beliefs co-exist?  Don’t women need to be healthy happy and supported by society in order to raise a baby?   That includes laws that support a woman having a baby by providing an adequate maternity of more than 12 weeks.  Laws that protect women in the workplace form getting fired for having to stay home with their sick babies and children.  Laws that make good child care affordable so women can return to the workforce feeling secure their baby is well taken care of.  Social programs and welfare that help a woman in need.    We are no where near where we need to be.  So excuse me if I think Mitt Romney is full of shit.

Here are a couple of highlights of how degrading this issue has become for women.

Here is a statement from Foster Friess a man who was funding Santorum’s 2012 bid for Presidency-

“Back in my day, they used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn’t that costly."

The week of February 16, 2012 Virginia passed a bill that would require women to have an ultrasound before they may have an abortion.  Because the majority of abortions occur during the first 12 weeks that means most women will be forced to have a transvaginal procedure which is basically a cold plastic probe into their vagina and moved around until an ultrasound image is produced.

Have you seen a vaginal probe? It’s a long plastic hand held device same as the regular ultra sound device except this one resembles a dick.  Which would only be compounded if its a male ultrasound technician using the probe. Basically you lay on a table with your legs spread while a technician violates you because your being forced to submit to an ultrasound you don't want.

How far will they go to garner votes?  What a violation of a woman and her body.  Basically you’re raping a woman, at a time when she is most vulnerable.  It’s disgusting that people in today’s society want to shame women.  It’s never easy to get an abortion.  I can't imagine a larger violation than sticking a vaginal probe into a woman and trying to make her feel guilty.  A the while society stands by and allows the violation.   We talk about the middle east but it seems we are not much better than our muslim counter parts who blame women for arousing a man's animal instinct by having the body they do.  Though this is no choice of their own its evolution they force women to wear oppressive burka's because its the women's fault if a man can't control himself.   They also blame women for getting raped.  Blame women for not making their husbands happy.  Blame women for causing the end of their marriage.   Stone women to death for shaming their family.    Meanwhile the men breeze through life treating women like cattle.

I am against violating women’s reproductive rights.   I'm against men in politics deciding what a woman should do with her body.    I'm against countries where abortion is illegal.  I'm against countries that do not provide adequate pre-natal and post-natal care for all women regardless of their economic situation.  I'm against any country that violates women’s rights and looks down on women as second class citizens.  Anyone who votes for Romney is anti-woman; there is no other way to look at it.

FYI, Virginia's ultrasound law passed minus the vaginal probe.
